THE WALLED TOWN OF PENNE (PE)

Located between the beach and mountains set in the rolling hills lies the beautiful town of Penne, so beautiful that it is one of the named ‘Borghi piu` belli d’Italia’.

Penne is a historical town with many influences over the years; this is reflected in the walled town being filled with many historical buildings. Today it is known for its many churches and numerous fountains and monuments.

The fashion brand of Brioni originally founded in Rome and with its headquarters in Penne is known for its bespoke suits worn by many world leaders. Nazareno Fonticoli one of the brands founders was born in Penne.

With a local population of around 12,200 inhabitants it is a lively town with many shops, bars and restaurants.

Italy is known for its Festas and Penne is no different. There are 3 held annually:

The festa di San Massimo (The patron saint of the town) held 7-10 May

The medieval festa the first week in August

The Notturna Pennese the first week in September (This is a running race open to all)

There are supermarkets, butchers, hairdresser, a post office, banks many other shops and just on the outskirts there are tennis courts.

With Penne as your base you can do many activities from walking, running, mountain biking, road bike, hiking etc.

From Penne you can get to the beach area in around 40 minutes by car or if you prefer the mountains you can get to the foot of the mountains in around 25 minutes.
